This role converts a seated party into an engaged one — hydrated, oriented to the menu, and personally welcomed — before the server ever arrives. It also captures the information that determines how the rest of the meal goes: allergies, dietary restrictions, and the occasion behind the visit.
Pay
Hourly $15.16
Core responsibilities
01Greet every seated table within 60 seconds of the host seating them. Warm, unhurried, by name when the reservation gives you one.
02Water service. Deliver water immediately; note still vs. sparkling preference and pass it to the server.
03Present the evening's specials — dish by dish, from memory, with enough detail that a guest can picture it: preparation, key ingredients, and why the kitchen is running it tonight. No reading off a card.
04Ask about allergies and dietary restrictions for the whole table, including severity (preference vs. medical). Repeat back what you heard.
05Ask about the occasion — birthday, anniversary, first visit, celebration — and anything else that would change how the table should be handled (in a hurry, has a sitter, guest of the owner).
06Hand off to the server verbally, before they approach the table. Every time. The server should arrive already knowing the allergies, the occasion, and which specials landed.
07Reset your own tools — water pitchers, specials knowledge, notepad — between seatings
